SCOPE OF CONTRACT: The Government’s general and specific requirements for the repair of the Sayles Canyon Trail Bridge project are as follows: Repair metal stringers/nailers and replace wooden decking and running planks on the trail bridge spanning Sayles Creek. Remove logs, dimensional lumber, and plywood (if any) that served as temporary decking. Minimum dimensions for the Sayles Canyon trail bridge are: 72” width between top railing which shall be no less than 42” above top of deck. The maximum opening of side railings shall be 8”. Contracting Officer Representative (COR) will verify the staging area with the contractor, which is 75 yards up the road and above the bridge site. Contractor shall supply and install all dimensional lumber, associated hardware and appurtenances, as shown in the drawings. Location and mileage from Silver Fork Store in Kyburz, CA: • To Sayles Canyon trail bridge-travel east on Hwy. 50 13.5 miles, turn right on Sayles Canyon Cabin Tract Road (FS 11N16), travel 0.3 miles to the first sharp left-hand turn. The Pony Express trail veers off to the right to the bridge site. • Map(s): See attachments. MAGNITUDE OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT: The price range for this contract is: Between $25,000 and $100,000. A pre-bid site visit will be held May 22, 2024 : Contractors will meet Forest Service (FS) personnel at 9:00 AM (local time) at the staging area of the lowest elevation bridge, which would be "Clubhouse". This would be found on the left (west) side of map Caldor Trail Bridge Relief #1. Traveling eastbound on Hwy. 50, and less than a mile east of the town of Kyburz is FS Road # 11N43, where a sharp left turn is required. This road is not signed on Hwy.50 nor is there a left-hand turn lane. It is unknown how long it will take the group to hike in, assess, and hike out, so it would be best if perspective offerors and FS personnel caravan to the other bridge sites together after the first one.
