This contract provides for fuels reduction/modification, fuels removal, timber stand improvement and related work for approximately 69 acres to be performed in compliance to the contract terms, specifications and provisions. Fuels will be reduced in chaparral, and timbered stands by means of hand and mechanical treatments. On slopes less than 30%, some mechanical tracked and rubber tired mastication treatments may be used. Chain saws, pruning saws, and hand tools will be the primary source of fuels reduction hand treatments. Fuels treated within the project site will be either removed, chipped, or masticated on-site and scattered within the project area. Surface ground disturbance will be minimal for soil stabilization; grass and small shrubs will be left in place with a stump height of 2 inches from ground level. Bio mass left in place for soil stabilization will be at depths of 3 inches or less.
