This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the procedures contained in FAR Part 12.6, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is 12905B22Q0144 and is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) Number 2022-06. Service Contract Labor Standards Wage Determination Number 2015-5633 Revision #15 for Monterey County, CA is applicable and is attached. This solicitation is issued as unrestricted. The associated NAICS code is 541380 the small business size standard is $16.5. List CLINS, item descriptions, quantities and units of measure: USDA Salinas, CA has a requirement for Mineral composition analysis of 600 lettuce samples. Composition analysis is needed to determine differences among cultivars. Our previous analyses indicate that composition has a substantial association with lettuce susceptibility to yellow spot, the malady that is affecting lettuce production in Salinas Valley. Description/Statement of Work/Specification: Mineral composition analyses of 600 lettuce samples. The service needs to include: - Leaf tissue composition analysis of the following 31 minerals and compounds: aluminum, arsenic, barium, boron, cadmium, calcium, chloride, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, lithium, magnesium, manganese, mercury, molybdenum, nickel, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, silicon, silver, sodium, strontium, sulfur, tin, titanium, vanadium, and zinc. - Analyses will need to be done on oven dried leaf tissue, about 3-5 grams of dry weight. - Samples will be harvested by the end of July and mailed to the analytical lab after drying in oven at 65-70C. - Results of analyses can be sent to provided e-mail or to be available online for downloading. Alternatively, data could be delivered on an external hard drive.
