Description: Work with USDA-ARS Pendleton Location to design and build a plot drill for experimental plot work with two sets of independent openers. Openers must have individual hydraulic down pressure and capable of delivering seed and dry fertilizer. Scope of work: A. Design Work with USDA-ARS Pendleton Location to gather information on design requirements for plot drill. Produce CAD drawings of drill. Present drawings and work with USDA-ARS Pendleton Location to modify drawings until all requirements are met. After design is approved by USDA-ARS Pendleton Location build drill to specifications. B. Manufacture Frame Fabricate drill frame with 4-inch X 4-inch square tubing not to exceed a width of 12 feet 6 inches (150 inches). Frame not to have more than four (4) cross members for mounting openers. Tongue weight not to exceed 2000 lbs. dry drill weight. Drill to be tractor draw bar connected with adjustable top link for leveling. Provide and install bulk seed box with approximately 14-bushel capacity for seed delivery system No. 1. Box to have metering system with wide variety of calibrations. Provide and install bulk seed box with approximately 14-bushel capacity for seed delivery system No. 2. Box to have metering system with wide variety of calibrations. Provide and install bulk starter fertilizer box with approximately 14-bushel capacity for seed delivery system No. 1. Box to have metering system with wide variety of calibrations. Provide and install bulk starter fertilizer box with approximately 14-bushel capacity for seed delivery system No. 2. Box to have metering system with wide variety of calibrations. Provide and install bulk urea fertilizer box with approximately 14-bushel capacity for seed delivery system No. 1. Box to have metering system with wide variety of calibrations. Fabricate steel platform for operator to load seed and fertilizer into boxes. Provide and install seed cone system for seed delivery system No.2. Fabricate seed cone operators seat mount. Provide and install seed cone operator seat. Fabricate tray by seed cone for seed packet storage. All metal to be powder coat painted black. C. Seed & Dry Fertilizer Delivery System No. 1 Provide and install twelve (12) AgPro Inc. or equivalent openers capable of applying seed and dry starter fertilizer through one tube and dry urea nitrogen fertilizer at least 2 inches below and to the side of seed placement. Must have a narrow hoe opener with down pressure supplied to the parallel linkage by hydraulic accumulator. Leading notched coulter blade 18 inches in diameter. Packer wheel 4 inches wide minimum on the rear of each opener. Each opener must have independent hydraulic cylinders to provide consistent down force pressure for precise seed depth control. Provide and install AgPro Opener Down Pressure Active Control System or equivalent. Electric over hydraulic system supplies hydraulic pressure to accumulator which delivers desired pressure to each opener cylinder through operator electronic control display. System to include all hoses, fittings and electronics. Install at 12 inches on center onto frame cross members. Provide and install air delivery system for seed and dry fertilizer from box to opener. System to include all hoses, fittings, fan, hydraulic or gas drive system, and all misc. parts. Provide and install seed delivery drive system that will engage and disengage with the openers. D. Seed & Dry Fertilizer Delivery System No. 2 Provide and install eleven (11) AgPro Inc. or equivalent openers capable of applying seed and dry starter fertilizer through one opener. Must have a narrow hoe opener with down pressure supplied to the parallel linkage by hydraulic accumulator. Leading notched coulter blade 18 inches in diameter. Packer wheel 4 inches wide minimum on the rear of each opener. Each opener must have independent hydraulic cylinders to provide consistent down force pressure for precise seed depth control. Provide and install AgPro Opener Down Pressure Active Control System or equivalent. Electric over hydraulic system supplies hydraulic pressure to accumulator which delivers desired pressure to each opener cylinder through operator electronic control display. System to include all hoses, fittings and electronics. Install at 12 inches on center onto frame at a 6-inch offset from seed delivery system No.1 openers. Provide and install air delivery system for seed and dry fertilizer from box to opener. System to include all hoses, fittings, fan, hydraulic or gas drive system, and all misc. parts. Provide and install seed delivery drive system that will engage and disengage with the openers. E. Miscellaneous Drill must be capable of being towed on highway at 55 mph. Drill must have calibration drive system for operator ease of product calibration. Install reflective safety tape. Install LED trailer stop and turn lights and all electrical fittings and parts needed. Install LED amber strobe lights on back corners and all electrical fittings and parts needed. Install “Oversized” safety sign on rear of drill. Provide and install tow safety chains. Provide one spare tire and wheel. Deliver finished drill to USDA-ARS location at 48037 Tubbs Ranch Road, Adams OR 97810. Provide training to USDA-ARS location for drill.
