The Forest requires occurrence information, site information, location and mapping of the Penasco least chipmunk. If other small mammal species listed as Threatened, Endangered or R3 Sensitive (TES) are observed during the Penasco least chipmunk surveys, the Forest also requires a description, location and map information. In addition, a working list of other mammal species observed during the course of the required surveys will be generated and provided to the Forest Biologist. The sites to be surveyed should be identified through habitat modeling and mapping to secure the most likely sites of occupation by the species. The exact survey sites will be determined through discussions between the Forest Service and the contractor. The goal would not be to locate all sites of the species across the area, but at least review and survey a minimum of 5 areas the species could be present. A description of potential habitat or habitat types to avoid during implementation would be appropriate to include in the final report.
