This is not a solicitation announcement. The purpose of this announcement is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources available for remote COVID-19 sample collections throughout the continental United States to include Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Alaska in addition to obtaining appropriate testing results based on the requested samples. BACKGROUND: The world is facing historic challenges in response to the pandemic Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The Forest Service (FS) is anticipating a requirement for Coronavirus (COVID-19) sample collections in remote locations and associated Testing and Support Services for incident personnel engaged in wildland fire fighting and non-incident personnel in various FS remote locations across the nation. Because deployment environments vary, the requirement may exceed the Contractor’s immediate capabilities, so the Contractor must be prepared to provide equal or greater subcontracted capabilities. SCOPE: The Forest Service is conducting market research to determine industry capabilities for obtaining On-site samples for COVID-19 Testing and Support Services that include the collection, processing, shipping, tracking, storing, testing, and reporting of specimens suspected of COVID-19 exposure. The unique nature, scope, and complexity of the scientific, technical, expert, operational, and logistical services needed will vary to support remote COVID-19 testing. This is a Request for Information only and not a solicitation for award. The Forest Service understands this is a fluid situation where the landscape of availability is constantly changing. The primary purpose of this announcement is to identify potential sources, product offerings, availability and/or challenges to procuring and obtaining such items to rapidly meet emerging requirements. Therefore, to the extent practical, additional market research may be conducted prior to posting any solicitation to capture the snapshot of the availability at that specific point in time. The Forest Service urges those companies that can provide the following category of items to respond even after the initial response due date. INSTRUCTIONS TO INTERESTED VENDORS: If you are interested and capable of providing the required services, please provide the requested information as attached to this Sources Sought Notice. Please respond to the list of questions in as much detail as possible. The information provided may be used by the Forest Service in developing its acquisition approach, statement of work/statement of objectives and performance specifications. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or competition sensitive information contained in their response. After review of the responses to this sources sought synopsis, a solicitation announcement may be published on Beta.SAM. All interested offers will have to respond to the solicitation announcement, in addition to responding to this sources sought announcement.
