The Tonto National Forest seeks a more sustainable recreation program by decommissioning several recreation areas in the Tonto Basin Ranger District and Globe Ranger District. Decommissioning campgrounds in the Tonto Basin Ranger District is the base scope, while decommissioning in the Globe Ranger District is an option. The work includes removing and safely disposing, outside National Forest boundaries, recreational accommodations such as entry station buildings, toilet buildings, sidewalks, asphalt pavement, fish cleaning stations, septic systems, and parking lots.
