The USDA Forest Service intends to solicit a quotation on a single source basis in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) from Rush Truck Centers Inc. for engine repair of fire truck EN 7662. Rush Truck Centers Inc. is the only source reasonably available to perform the repairs and who has the knowledge and specialty tools. IAW FAR 5.207(16)(i), all responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the Contracting Officer. The request for quotation will be available on or about March 14, 2025. Angeles National Forest EN 7662 fire crew truck had become inoperable during a fire incident in Idaho. Vehicle was towed to nearest qualified shop that was within proximity of the fire incident and crew. The repair facility performed the required diagnostics to determine the cause and found an unknown foreign object that was lodged into the engine and caused damage to the cylinders, cylinder liner and head. The vehicle was found to be unsafe to operate and needs an engine rebuild. The repair shall include all parts, supplies and labor to ensure the proper and safe operation of the vehicle.
