The USDA-ARS-SWRU is in need of a laboratory analytical instrument suitable for both laboratory and field measurement of gas-phase nitrous oxide (N2O) and carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations in air samples collected from soil incubation vessels and closed chambers placed on the soil surface in agricultural settings. The analyzer needs to be capable of reliably measuring N2O and CO concentrations ranging from 0.1 ppm to 100 ppm and to output concentration data nearly continuously (at least 1 hz) on both a raw and dry concentration basis with options for both digital and analog output and with drift of 1 ppb or less. Unit should also report water vapor concentration. For mobile field use, the instrument needs to be portable with an option for battery power and weighing less than 10 kg including a built-in pump.
