United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL), 1920 Dayton Ave, Ames, IA 50010, has a requirement for 4 different sized insulated shippers that have been certified to ship UN3373 Category B Substances: Insulated shipper “Box A” must have a minimum 1.5” thick Styrofoam cooler with usable inside space dimensions of: 8” length x 6” width x 5” height and outside cardboard box dimensions of: 11.25” length x 9.5” width x 8.5” height. Insulated shipper “Box B” must have a minimum 1.5” thick Styrofoam cooler with usable inside space dimensions of: 8.875” length x 6.875” width x 11.5” height and outside cardboard box dimensions of: 11.5” length x 10.5” width x 15” height. Insulated shipper “Box C” must have a minimum 1.5” thick Styrofoam cooler with usable inside space dimensions of: 13” length x 13” width x 11.5” height and outside cardboard box dimensions of: 16.5” length x 16.5” width x 17” height. Insulated shipper “Box D” must have a minimum 1.5” thick Styrofoam cooler with usable inside space dimensions of: 19.375” length x 15.375” width x 9.5” height and outside cardboard box dimensions of: 22.5” length x 18.75” width x 13.5” height. The outside dimensions of the cardboard box must be within (+/- 0.25”) from the measurements above. The inner dimensions of the Styrofoam cooler must be within (+/- 0.125”) from the measurements above. Styrofoam sheet inserts in lieu of a Styrofoam cooler will not be accepted. All shippers must have a box certificate, labeled on each shipper, of at least: Edge Crush Test – 32 lbs./In, Size Limit 75 inches, Gross weight 65 lbs. All shippers must be delivered on serviceable wooden pallets and preassembled with the Styrofoam cooler inside the cardboard box and the bottom portion of the box taped up with a premium grade carton sealing tape. All shippers must have package orientation arrows pre-printed on two sides of the box according to IATA 7.4.4 or 7.4.5. The Buy American Act applies to this procurement. Award will be made on the basis of best value with price and other factors considered.
