The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), intends to issue a request for proposals to construct approximately two miles of 8’ game fencing along U.S. Route 83 in Zapata County, Texas. The purpose of this project is to restrict movement of deer to prevent further spread of cattle fever ticks into tick-free areas of Texas and the United States. Cattle fever ticks carry protozoan organisms that multiply in and destroy red blood cells in native cattle. Areas where the fencing will be installed include 14 private properties. Memos of Understanding between property owners, the state, and APHIS are in hand. The magnitude of this project is between $250,000 and $500,000. The NAICS code is 238990 All Other Specialty Trade Contractors, with a small business size standard of $16.5 million. This procurement shall be set aside for small business firms only. The solicitation and all other documents related to this procurement will be available on the beta.sam.gov site on or after March 30, 2021.
