The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service seeks a purchase order for the manufacture of 2,500 square aluminum trays: 17.75” X 17.75” with a 1.25” high hemmed straight lip on all sides, .032” with welded corners. The trays are required at the Phoenix Rearing Facility for the production of gypsy moths. They’ll contain diet and eggs and be moved through the facility’s production rooms as the insects develop. The trays are used to carry insects all the way through moth collection, after which the trays are washed and scraped clean of diet, insect webbing, and frass and put back into production. The cleaning and disinfection process includes a light bleach-water mixture, which is why we require aluminum. The NAICS code for this procurement is 332999, with a small business size standard of 750 employees. This requirement is set aside for small businesses only. A solicitation will be issued this week. Questions concerning this synopsis should be directed to Jim Roloff, contracting officer, by email at james.g.roloff@usda.gov.
