USDA intends to post a solicitation for one High Performance Dry Screw Pump to be delivered to the Miama, FL. The vacuum pump will be used to draw vacuum to a treatment chamber of the size of 250 cubic feet to establish a final vacuum around 1 · 10 ?² hPa to disinfest any live insect pests in the fruit without addition of saturated steam into the chamber. Further research will use this same vacuum pump combine with a steam generator to add saturated steam to disinfest insect pests. And at the end of treatment, use the vacuum pump to draw out the steam vapor in the chamber. This solicitation will be set-aside for small business only and will be posted around 7/24/2020.
