Needs to be an Rapid Aquisition Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) was first detected in Pennsylvania in 2014. Since then, the insect has spread to 26 counties in Pennsylvania and populations have been found in five other states. PPQ has supported the affected states in a variety of ways, including assisting with treatments. As the population of SLF has continued to grow, a need for additional treatment methods became evident. PPQ Science and Technology, Field Ops, and Policy Management have looked at various options and determined that ground based broadcast applications of insecticide is the best option available to the program to suppress the population of SLF. In an effort to suppress the population, we will begin to utilize mist blowers to target SLF in high risk areas. The program has identified specifications (See below) that would be meet the program’s needs. Many companies may offer a quantity discount. The program is looking to purchase eight misters now, and up to four additional misters at a later date. Before committing to purchasing additional misters, the program wants to ensure that the misters will meet all our needs. This can only be fully determined through field trials.
