USDA, Forest Service The Eastern Region (R9) Law Enforcement and Investigations (LEI) unit 2.Description of services required to meet the agency’s needs The unit is led by a Special Agent in Charge (SAC) that reports to the Director of LEI in Washington DC and is composed of a regional command staff, field investigations staff, and field enforcement staff. The regional command staff is composed of the SAC, Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC), Regional Patrol Commander (RPC), and administrative support staff located in the regional office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The field investigations staff is supervised by the ASAC and the field enforcement staff is supervised by the RPC. The investigative staff consists of eight Special Agents (SA) stationed in various zones in the region. The enforcement staff consists of five Patrol Captains (PC) that supervise approximately 40 Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) stationed in various zones in the region. The unit has not undergone any recent reorganization and the size has been stable for the last five years. The SAC and ASAC have been in their positions for almost 10 years. There have been several RPC in that time. The current RPC has been in the position for nearly two years. The other staff have been affected by normal attrition and transfers. The LEI organization was impacted and realigned in 2015 following a significant budget reduction and loss of about 25% of staffing.
