The Bolar Flat Marina, located on the northern end of Lake Moomaw in Bath County, VA, is a local hub of activity where visitors come to boat, fish and picnic. The Lake was created out of a 12 mile stretch of the Jackson River when the US Army Corps of Engineers built Gathright Dam in 1979. The Lake is used for flood control and has widely fluctuating water levels. There is a boat launch ramp and a Marina dock with 40 slips rented out seasonally. The Marina dock is currently closed due to storm damage to the gangway in May 2022. There is currently no courtesy dock available. This project will provide a new courtesy dock to assist visitors launching their boats onto the lake, and will repair or replace the gangway to the marine dock to restore functionality and use of the dock slips.
