When sending email, please put 12443921Q0030 in subject line Period Of Performance 15 July 2021 to 30 March 2022 The contract area is within the boundaries of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, North River Ranger District in Rockingham County, VA. This treatment area consists of mainly immature timber stands. The boundaries of the contract areas are designated on the ground with pink flagging on the trees at approximately eye level. In areas where the boundary is evident (Unit to be treated is surrounded by undisturbed mature timber, roads, a body of water, or a trail), these features will be treated as the boundary and will be noted on project maps provided to contractor. A key will be provided to gain access to contract areas behind locked gates. Refer to Vicinity Map and Contract Area Maps. Contract Area 1 – Slate Lick (Map 1A) Units 3 – 5 (Crop Tree Release, Bid Item 1), begin at the intersection of VA Ste. Rte. 612 (Genoa Road) and VA Ste. Route 817, travel N on Rte. 612 for approximately three quarters of a mile (Shoemaker River Area). Follow old logging access roads (closed - accessible by walking), about ¼ mile and you will arrive at Units 3,4 and 5 (Map 1A). Units 1 and 2 (Crop Tree Release, Bid Item 1) begin at the intersection of VA Ste. Rte. 612 (Genoa Road) and VA Ste. Route 817, travel N on Rte. 612 for approximately three quarters of a mile, turn left on FSR 230 (Slate Lick area). Travel approximately one and a half miles, then turn left onto FSR 1279. Travel approximately one and a half miles and you will arrive at Units 1 and 2. Contract Area 2 – Gauley Ridge and Leading Ridge (2A) Unit 6 - 12 (Crop Tree Release, Bid Item 1), begin at the intersection VA Ste. Hwy 818 and FSR 240 (Old VEPCO Road), travel approximately a quarter of a mile on FSR 240 and you will arrive at Units 8, 9 and 10. You will then continue on FSR 240 for one mile until you come to its intersection with FSR 240 A. Unit 7 will be to the west and Unit 8 will be to the northeast of this location.
