Preproposal meeting scheduled at the project site, see Section L for date and time. Flathead NF, Hungry Horse Ranger District, Lions Lake Dam Rehabilitation involves rehabilitation of the Lion Lake south dam and raising the embankment on the north dam. Work at the south dam includes rehabilitation of the upstream embankment slope to re-contour and smooth the grading and adding riprap for wave action erosion protection. The outlet shaft/spillway structure will be modified to core a weir into the wall, replace vertical slide gate, add new upstream vertical slide gate, rehabilitate exposed concrete surfaces, and rehabilitate existing handrail. Work at the Outlet Pipe requires replacement of the downstream outlet pipe, removal and disposing of concrete retaining structure at the downstream end of the outlet pipe, adding rock riprap erosion control downstream of the outlet pipe, and slipline the interior upstream outlet pipe. The Contractor will need to raise the embankment crest of the dam, shifting the centerline of the embankment crest downstream. The Downstream Embankment will be rebuilt with a flatter embankment fill slope and have toe drains and chimney drains installed. The Parking Lot will have existing damaged areas patched and repaired, and a slurry seal coat will be added. The north will be rehabilitated by raising the embankment crest to same elevation as south dam. Project is located 1.5 miles south of Hungry Horse, Montana. The project site can be reached by turning south off or US Hwy 2 on to MT State RTE 15516 (the paved road to Hungry Horse Dam) for 1.5 miles.
