The Caribou-Targhee National Forest intends to purchase trail bridge materials as detailed in the Schedule of Items. The drawings and specifications provide more definition of the work required under each work item. The vendor must bid on all items, including delivery cost. The Government reserves the right to award any and all items. Unless otherwise indicated, materials shall include stringers, abutment sill, backing planks, deck, hand rail, running planks, and all hardware to attach and assemble these items. Timber elements are to be manufactured (cut and drilled) prior to treatment per specification in the plans. Not included in this purchase are the following: gabion or other abutments (note: timber sill and abutment anchor bolts and straps are included), assembly and installation. Materials and treatment shall be according to the specifications in the plans. Dimensions and quantities shall be verified by the vendor and submitted via shop drawings. Approved shop drawings are required before fabrication. Delivery is to be “F.O.B.” and “to be assembled by others.” The following treatments may be considered in addition to those listed on the drawings. Penta Type A is allowable for the stringers, decking, and diaphragms. Unfortunately we cannot allow ACQ/ACZA at this time. The rails and running planks will need to be type C (light oil) or an untreated decay resistant species as allowed in the specs. Also for the handrails and running planks we can consider treatments that are different from our plans (including waterborne) on a case by case basis. Corrosion to metal fasteners, longevity, best treatment for the climate, etc. must be addressed. The specifications of proposed treatment must be provided.
