Purpose: Reduce basal area and tress per acre, reduce likelihood of high severity fire, increase torching and crown indices, favor large/old bristlecone and limber pine, and reduce DWD and snags to protect infrastructure from wildfire. Management Objectives: A reduction in mid-closed structural stages to encourage the development of more mid-open, late- open conditions. Protect and/or encourage the maintenance and development of large (18”+ dbh) old-trees and snags to add structural complexity. Create a mosaic of forest conditions and structures that allow for wildfires to burn and other insect and disease and disturbance agents to occur at intensities and severities that will protect critical infrastructure at the summit of Badger Mountain.
