This project involves repairing structural damage to the USFS Glacier Ranger District Bunkhouse roof in Girdwood, Alaska. The damage likely occurred due to excessive ice damming in the roof area above the kitchen (to the right of the main entrance when looking at the building from outside). The damage appears to be structural; it is possible that a few of the rafters in this area have been compromised. The work entails removing soffit material, and possibly shingles and decking on the exterior to investigate the extent of the damage. This is a rafter constructed building with sheathing on the interior as well above the drop ceiling tiles. Once the damage has been identified, replace the damaged structural members. Restore the exterior roof sheathing, waterproofing, and shingles if needed. Replace facia, soffit and paint to best match existing materials. Restore interior insulation, vapor barrier, and sheathing if needed, matching the existing interior qualities. All materials and work shall be in compliance with local building codes and the Specifications provided in this contract.
