The estimated magnitude of the requirement is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The USDA Forest Service, Alaska Region, Tongass National Forest, Wrangell Ranger District requires reconstruction of the remote bear-viewing facilities at Anan Creek. Base Item work includes the demolition and removal of the upper and middle timber observation decks and stair structures, including footings; relocation of the existing timber observation structure and outhouse structure; demolition of a portion of the aggregate trail; construction of footings and structural elements, upper observation deck, timber shelter and restroom structure, aggregate trail, and signs; and other miscellaneous work. Option Item work includes construction of a temporary timber connector staircase to the existing-to-remain staircase to the lower observation deck, repairs to the existing-to-remain staircase and lower deck, preparation of shop drawings for a metal spiral staircase (fabrication & installation is not included), and other miscellaneous work. This project was previously solicited in Fiscal Year 2020, but was not awarded, and is now broken into smaller phases to increase competition. Market research will refine specific set-aside beyond that of Total Small Business, if warranted. For further information at this time, please view the attached description document.
