The USDA Forest Service, Alaska Region, Topngass National Forest, Wrangell Ranger District requires reconstruction of the remote bear-viewing facilities at Anan Creek. Base Item work includes the demolition and removal of the upper and middle timber observation decks and stair structures, including footings; relocation of the existing timber observation structure and outhouse structure; demolition of a portion of the aggregate trail; construction of footings and structural elements, upper observation deck, timber shelter and restroom structure, aggregate trail, and signs; and other miscellaneous work. Option Item work includes construction of a temporary timber connector staircase to the existing-to-remain staircase to the lower observation deck, repairs to the existing-to-remain staircase and lower deck, preparation of shop drawings for a metal spiral staircase (fabrication & installation is not included in this Phase), and other miscellaneous work.
