The US Forest Service (Alaska Region) seeks to procure one (1) UTV for the Petersburg Ranger District. The federal government intends to award one firm fixed price contract resulting from this solicitation. See attachments for additional details. Quotes are due March 31st, 2022 at 12:00PM (AKST) Alaska Time, via email. Justification for Brand Name only (Can-Am or Arctic Cat): Communities in SE Alaska are not connected to a traditional road system, accessible only by marine ferry or by air. Major repair and warranty work will need to occur in SE Alaska. There are 3 brands that can be serviced in SE Alaska – Arctic Cat, Can-Am, and Honda. This UTV will be used in Petersburg, AK and needs to seat at least 4 individuals with capacity for storing gear. The UTV also needs to be enclosed due to SE Alaska weather conditions. Market research shows that Can-Am and Arctic Cat models could meet these specifications. The Honda research, however, did not indicate that they could meet the requirements. This brand name only request (FAR 6.302-1) reduces the duplication of costs [FAR 6.303-2(b)(9)(ii)] associated with having repair work performed.
