The US Forest Service (Alaska Region) seeks to procure a jet boat package that includes trailer, boat, and Brand name only (Yamaha or Mercury) 90/65 horsepower 4-stroke outboard motor. The federal government intends to award one firm fixed price contract resulting from this solicitation. See attachments for additional details. Quotes are due March 30th, 2022 at 12:00PM (AKST) Alaska Time, via email. Justification for Brand Name only: The boat will be used in Petersburg and Wrangell by Forest Service employees. None of the communities in SE Alaska are connected to the traditional road system and are accessible only by marine ferry or air. Major repair and warranty work for the motor will need to be performed in either of these locations. Yamaha can be serviced in Petersburg and both Yamaha and Mercury can be serviced in Wrangell. This brand name request (FAR 6.302-1) reduces the duplication of costs [FAR 6.303-2(b)(9)(ii)] associated with having work performed, as other brands would have to be shipped to other SE Alaska locations, Anchorage, or Seattle.
