Trees masticated will vary in size... The expected result of this project is to mechanically alter fuel loadings on approximately 203.6 acres of base items. Units are composed of primarily mixed conifer. Trees masticated will vary in size from small diameter saplings up to the 9-inch maximum cut diameter. Fuel loadings estimated between 15-35 tons/acre. Some units contain dense patches of small diameter of mixed conifer regeneration saplings. Treatment units are located mostly on flat aspects with elevations ranging from 4500 feet to 5500 feet. Slope within treatment units varies from 0 to 30% with an average of 10% or less. Work is located on the Wallowa Mountains Ranger District on the Wallowa Whitman National Forest.
