The sole intent of this Sources Sought Notice is to obtain capabilities for set-aside and procurement planning purposes. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for the proposed acquisition is 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 1000 employees. This is not an invitation for bid, request for proposal, or other solicitation, and in no way obligates the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (ARS) to award a contract. BACKGROUND: The ARS Coastal Plain Soil, Water and Plant Conservation Research Center has a requirement for replacing an existing Ion Torrent PGM system to an Ion Genestudio S5 (Brane Name or Equal). To meet research needs, the replacement system must include the following: Semiconductor based sequencing platform Cartridge based reagents Read length output in the 200 to 600 base pair range Range of sequencing chips (range of reads per run) to allow for project scalability Capable of performing both 16S metagenomic, and genomic sequencing Provide downstream data analysis and storage Directly compatible with an existing ION CHEF Instrument which provides automated library preparation, template preparation, and chip loading. Barcode reading capabilities to track samples, reagents, and sequencing chips. Touch-screen graphical user interface built in, without need to rely on a standalone computer and operating system. Instrument must be new with one year warranty, parts and labor, and service verified by instrument manufacturer. Must accept trade-in value of a Life Technologies Ion Torrent PGM system (Life Technologies Catalog Number: 4462921). INSTRUCTION FOR SUBMISSION: Please provide the follow Business information: 1.
