Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has issued 17 letter contracts to procure food boxes as part of COVID-19 response efforts. These letter contracts are part of the Farmers to Families Food Box assistance program, created under Presidential national emergency declaration made on March 13, 2020, under section 501(b) of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, 42 U.S.C. 5121-5207 (the “Stafford Act”) , as emergency food assistance. Commodities will be distributed to underserved areas of the United States. The needs of the Government have been deemed as unusual and compelling in accordance with 6.302-2.
