SCOPE OF CONTRACT The purpose of this contract is to secure services for a uniform and systematic examination of plantation survival in 1st and 3rd year tree plantations using stocking and vegetation plots to identify potential significant competition from vegetation types, percent survival, stocking, distribution of trees per acre (TPA) by species, and identify/categorize damage by type and possible cause. Data collected shall be recorded on a provided 2020 Survival Exam Plot Sheet. This useful data will also be used to determine if each plantation meets standard stocking requirement. The Contractor shall furnish all technical expertise, labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operation supplies, and incidentals necessary to complete the project, except for that which the contract clearly states is to be furnished by the Government. All equipment within the Contract area shall be in such mechanical condition and of an appropriate type to meet the requirements of the work. DESCRIPTION Location: Project is located on the McCloud Ranger District of the Shasta Trinity National Forest. Detailed maps of the Shasta Trinity National Forest are available from the Headquarters office or the McCloud/Mt. Shasta Ranger Station offices. Access to certain stands may be limited; the Government is not obligated to do any unscheduled road maintenance. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the most suitable route to the project areas. All units are normally accessible by standard pickup on forest roads. Project Area Maps: Maps provided in the contract are intended to show the general location and shape of the project areas and are suitable for use in Avenza. Plantation Boundaries: The areas to be examined are defined by flagging, average tree drip line, system road boundaries or other well-defined physical features. Unit boundaries will be flagged at the Contractor’s written request as necessary for boundary clarity shall govern. Positions of features are approximate.
