The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) intends to issue an award on a sole source basis to ILLUMINA, INC. of San Diego CA for the purchase of 2688 samples of the WG-401-1001 Infinium HD iSelect 24 Kit Beadchips for the amount of $120,207.36 The ARS Soybean Genomics and Improvement Laboratory has a Tecan robotic system that is designed for processing Illumina BeadChips such as the iSelect_Soybean_USDA BeadChip. The laboratory also has an instrument called the Illumina iScan. This instrument is a platform that generates high-throughput analyses of multiple biological samples (DNA) and is specifically designed to analyze Illumina iSelect HD BeadChips. The WG-401-1001 Infinium iSelect HD, iSelect_Soybean_USDA BeadChip is considered a specialty item in the biotechnology industry and must be compatible with the aforementioned BeadStation system. Other manufacturer's products are not compatible, will not physically fit and are not able to process high-throughput SNP DNA marker analysis. The WG-401-1001 Infinium iSelect HD, iSelect_Soybean_USDA BeadChips is in use in this laboratory. Thus, the additional analyses using the WG-401-1001 Infinium iSelect HD, iSelect_Soybean_USDA BeadChip will provide SNP genetic marker data that will be compatible with data that we have previously obtained. The applicable North American Classification System (NAICS) code is 334516 Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The size standard for this NAICS is 1,000 employees. The government intends to issue the award using 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. All responsible sources who believe they can meet the government's requirements may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency.
