The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS) intends to award a Firm Fixed-Price, sole source contract to Micro-OPTICs Precision instruments Inc., in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). The USDA, ARS, Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC) in Orient Point, NY, to provide one Carl Zeiss Axio Observer 3 manual Inverted Fluorescence Microscope system. The applicable NAICS code for this requirement is 334516 Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, and the size standard is 1000. General Description: The Carl Zeiss Axio Observer 3 manual Inverted Fluorescence Microscope system is compatible with software (ZEN blue) that is propriety software and Zeiss camera systems. Another vendor with a similar product would not be compatible with this software and would require an additional computer system, cameras and software keys for acquiring and analyzing images, which adds a significant cost. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. No telephonic inquires will be honored. The Government will not reimburse interested parties for any expenses related to responding to the Notice of Intent. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This will be the only notice of the Government's intent to solicit, negotiate, and award to one source to satisfy this requirement.
