This array has more than 600,000 genomic variants which greatly increases the probability of identifying genomic regions associated with traits of interest. There are other commercially available ovine BeadChip, and is the Ovine SNP50 BeadChip which has approximately 54,000 genomic variants. This is the only other specialized geneotyping for sheep. The OvineHD BeadChip gives us much greater power to detect associated genomic regions compared with the Ovine SNP50 BeadChip.
