This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Work for this project consists of Engineering, Supplying and Installing a Pre-Manufactured one-level Smokejumper Let Down Tower, to include footing details, and all other items stated in the performance requirements and/or shown on the USFS concept drawings. ? The Let Down Tower is a training simulator to allow a USFS Smokejumper to practice an emergency release from a parachute while hanging from an obstacle, such as a tree. The Letdown Tower shall accommodate (6) six Smokejumpers and (6) six Spotters at the same time. The enclosed Forest Service drawing is a conceptual layout. The contractor shall develop the final design based on their manufactured components while working with the USFS Technical Representative to ensure all performance requirements are met. The preferred approach for this construction method is a pre-manufactured structure. The USFS will perform all site work and install footings per contractor provided detailed engineered footing drawings. The National Cooperative Soil Survey, NRCS, and a recent Geotechnical Investigation & Infiltration Testing Report for the Area of Interest is enclosed.
