Work generally includes clearing and new trail construction, construction of switchbacks and rock wall, reconditioning of existing tread, culvert installation, obliteration of existing trail, installation of drainage structures, post and sign installation, and other miscellaneous trail work. Numerous sections of surface rock may need blasting or hammering. Unclassified excavation incidental to 912(01). The project is located within sections 14, 15, 22, 23, 26, 27, 35 & 36 of T4N, R10E, and sections 2, 11, & 14 of T3N, R10E. The project is located in the Crazy Mountain range northeast of Bozeman, MT. From Bozeman, follow Interstate I90 east for 25 miles to Livingston. Follow Highway 89 north for 29 miles to Wilsall. Just north of Wilsall, turn right or east on Shields valley road and follow for approximately 9 miles. Turn right or east on Porcupine road 203 and follow east for approximately 7 miles to the end of the road at Porcupine cabin and trailhead. Project begins on trail 267 going south from the trailhead. Magnitude of Construction Project (per FAR 36.204(c)) - Between $100,000 and $250,000.
