The Custer Gallatin National Forest (CGNF) is proposing a cultural resource management project consisting of a Class III 100% level inventory of 5000 acres of restoration units on National Forest lands on the Hebgen Lake District of the CGNF, Montana within the 16,000 acre South Plateau Vegetation Restoration project area (Attachment Map 2). The South Plateau Vegetation Restoration project is the top flagship project for the CGNF to accomplish to meet critical Eastern POD and Regional priorities. The purpose of the inventory is to locate, map and record all cultural resources found within the boundaries of the treatment units and access routes for this project. The project area is located in southern Gallatin County, west of the Yellowstone National Park, east of the Idaho state line, and south of the town of West Yellowstone. It is within the Hebgen Lake Ranger District boundary. Attachment 2 Map displays the project area.
