CZ-Precommercial Thinning & White Pine Pruning DESCRIPTION: The Forest Service is in need of precommercial tree thinning, white pine pruning, and stand improvement activities to reduce the tree density and, by the deliberate selection of leave trees, improve the overall health and condition of the stand based on the prescribed objectives. Tree selection and cutting of undesirable or excess trees will provide space for the leave trees to grow and develop, reduce the incidence of insect and diseases that affect growth, and undesirable tree qualities. Additional objectives specific to this project are: branch pruning specifically designed to reduce the spread of white pine blister rust to the bole of the white pine trees selected to be maintained in the stand. Approx. 499 acres. LOCATION: The work is located on the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District (also known as the Central Zone) of the Idaho Panhandle National Forest (IPNF). The work sites, access to the areas, method of work, size of units, and other information pertinent to the thinning and pruning are defined in the Silvicultural Summary Prescription. Refer to maps for additional location details. DATES: The period of performance is from the date of Notice to Proceed to October 15, 2019. Estimated start date is July 15, 2019 or earlier as field conditions permit. The solicitation will be 100% Total Small business set-aside. In result of an award from this solicitation, one (1) award will be made as a Firm Fixed price contract.
