The USDA Forest Service will soon solicit for construction services to repair and restore a remote road system located in Margaret Bay, approximately 30 miles North of Ketchikan, Alaska. Margaret Bay roads are located in Traitor Cove off Behm Canal. Access to the project site is by boat or float plane. There is a barge ramp for off-loading equipment, and there is a lso a reamp and float with limited space for boat mooring. The work involved will include the following: erosion control, tree removal and staging, clearning and grubbing, pit development, gravel transport/compaction/finishing, constructing waterbars, installing culverts, and reconditioning 1.8 miles of gravel road. The estimated order of magnitude of this project is between $250,000 and $500,000.
