The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has a requirement to obtain an automatic pipettor capable of processing multiples of 8 samples at a time, ranging from 16 (2x8) up until 96 (12x8). The automatic pipettor system must have the unique versatility for rapid and smooth change of the interchangeable pipetting heads with either 8 EZ load tips or 96 EZ load tips. The loading of the tips must have a rapid tip loading mechanism that allows for rapid changes of tips required during library preparation. The automatic pipettor must use a pipetting head/core made of a silicone gask matt as a seal to the tips, instead of a regular bullet O-ring seal. The automatic pipettor must not require calibration (it comes pre-calibrated) and the controller must have features that enables the rapid adaptation to liquids that might differ in viscosity, The estimated magnitude for this project is between $27,887.00 (estimated). The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 334516 with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. This is not a request for proposals, but instead market research to determine if there are any small businesses capable of providing this product prior to issuing a solicitation. A determination by the Government on the method of competing this requirement has not been established. The Government will not award a contract based on this Sources Sought Notice or the information received, nor will it reimburse participants for the information they provide.
