1. Due to site conditions machinery equivalent to feller bunchers, processors, harvesters or excavators with attachments capable of cutting trees at the stump will be needed. Equipment must be capable of cutting trees into lengths less than 20’ while meeting piling specs and size dimensions. Piling material will take place by means other than dozer or skidder. Dozer or skidder use can only be considered for crushing fuel beds. 2. Stumps from cut trees will be 12” in height or less. 3. Cut material will not be left within 20’of roads or 50’ of private property boundaries. Items to Be Piled: 1. Live balsam fir trees (trunk and limbs) 5” DBH and less. 2. Dead conifer trees 5” DBH and less at standing or partially standing orientation. 3. Any downed tree species (live or dead) in full tree length less than 5” at DBH. 4. Any tree, live or dead, felled to access treatment fuels listed in items 1-3 above. 5. Any Balsam Fir that has 25% of its canopy or more dead from bud kill. Items to be Crushed: 1. Any dead and down woody debris < 5’’ 2. Downed trees shorter than tree length, less than 5” DBH or too small for piling will be crushed during operations to a fuel bed less than 2’ high.
