Air Quality monitors help to accurately quantify levels of pollution (PM 2.5) during prescribed and wildfires. These precision instruments assess air quality impacts that enable the agency to comply with Clean Air Act requirements administered by the State of Arizona, as well as coordinate accurate messaging about relative smoke levels to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. In order to meet the agency’s need, 4 units need to be purchased that have the capability to work with 110v or 12v dc, units must also be rugged enough and portable enough that they can be deployed in the forest in all weather conditions, and be compatible with the Oceaneering AQES-Muli satellite telemetry unit. Units must also be fairly accurate when compared to Federal Reference Method monitors, (the US EPA standard for monitoring particulate matter in the atmosphere.).
