The USAID/Tanzania Prevention and Health Promotion Unit Lead (PHPUL) will be a lead technical expert in the area the prevention of sexual transmission of HIV, working in close collaboration with other members of the US Government’s (USG) prevention team. S/he will provide state-of-the-art strategic and technical direction to the USAID and PEPFAR prevention and health promotion programs, focusing on key populations, adolescent girls and adult men. S/he will also serve as an expert technical resource to the GOT and other collaborating partners and be responsible for coordinating prevention program and policy issues with these key stakeholders. S/he will introduce innovative cost-effective approaches that have been successfully applied in other resource-constrained countries and will bring scientific rigor to discussions with GOT and other partners. S/he will be actively involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of selected prevention activities, with a particular focus on key and priority populations. S/he will provide technical oversight to USAID activities in the field, closely monitoring implementing partners’ performance against targets and suggesting mid-course corrections as needed. S/he may serve as Agreement/Contract Officer's Representative (A/COR) for prevention activities overseeing the overall strategic direction, relevance, coverage, and quality of these activities and ensuring coordination and complementarity with other prevention programs.
