In Malawi, there is an array of bilateral and multilateral organizations investing in a future free of HIV, Malaria and TB. Private sector partners are also working in and with Malawi for innovative solutions and opportunities. The US Government through its Presidential initiatives – both the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the Presidents Malaria Initiative (PMI) – as well as its broader health investments in TB, works closely with the Ministry of Health and these partners, including civil society, to advance technical, sustainable solutions with government structures at the central, district and local levels. Governance, oversight, and technical advisory roles with Malawi’s Global Fund Central Coordinating Mechanism (CCM); Gavi’s Expanded Program Immunization (EPI) team; Health Donor Group (HDG); HIV/AIDS Donor Group (HADG) and other technical working groups, are key to working in partnership as part of the US government’s investment in Malawi. This partnership further includes ensuring close collaboration to increase impact of existing funds and address any duplication.
