The Biomedical Prevention Advisor position is a member of the HIV/AIDS team, which is one of five teams in the Health, Population and Nutrition (HPN) Office. USAID's Health program in Malawi represents approximately 70 percent of the Mission's budget and the HIV portfolio currently constitutes almost 50 percent of the overall Health budget. The HIV team manages an annual budget of $63 million and oversees programs in behavioral and biomedical prevention, care and treatment, health systems strengthening, and orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and community care. The HIV team currently has nineteen staff members. USAID/Malawi, in collaboration with other U.S. Government Agencies, supports the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for HIV/AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The Government of Malawi (GoM) has developed ambitious 90/90/90 targets for HIV/AIDS treatment, care, and support to reduce HIV incidence and mitigate the epidemic. USAID/Malawi would like to hire a Biomedical Prevention Advisor to use his or her skills and experience to further support HIV testing and counseling (HTC), voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC), HIV/Family Planning (FP) integration and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) scale-up to support the GoM’s 90/90/90 goals and PEPFAR’s objectives. The incumbent will serve as an advisor to the HIV Team of the Mission’s HPN Office.
