USAID continues to contemplate programming to support conservation in the South Red Sea by promoting sustainable and community-based forms of tourism development. To this end, we have developed the attached draft framework outlining the structure according to which this may be managed. While optional, USAID welcomes further feedback on this initiative. For additional background on USAID’s work in the Red Sea, visit Anchors Away in Egypt’s Red Sea, published April 27 on USAID’s Exposure blog. For more on current challenges and opportunities for conservation in the Red Sea, visit The state of Egypt’s coral reefs, published in the Enterprise newsletter on March 29 2022 USAID/Egypt is seeking feedback on the notional lines of effort and questions outlined below. USAID/Egypt is NOT planning on providing any funding based on the responses received; USAID/Egypt is simply inviting those involved or interested in this concept to provide information to the Contracting Officer, Martin Fischer (mfischer@usaid.gov) and the Contracting Specialists: Nehal Elkhatib (nelkhatib@usaid.gov) and Sandra Boulis (sboulis@usaid.gov).
