The EPT (Elections and Political Transitions) Research and Analysis Advisor will maintain and strengthen USAID's base of knowledge in the EPT sphere. With knowledge of cutting-edge research methods, tools, and databases, the Advisor will monitor ongoing trends, seek new research findings, and provide on-demand responses to key EPT-related inquiries from USAID missions and management in support of USAID's global DRG objectives. Potential activities include: review and synthesis of EPT research papers; analysis of USAID EPT support over time in a given country or geographical grouping; and an assessment of a country's EPT sector, including an analysis of related programming, key political actors, and programming recommendations. The Advisor will provide and disseminate these findings in a practitioner-friendly manner. In addition to the activities listed above, the EPT Research and Analysis Advisor will provide programmatic EPT support, via TDY and Washington-based, to Missions, Embassies, and other USAID bureaus to: determine opportunities for USAID to support elections and political processes to create positive democratic change; design activities responding to those opportunities; work with partners to effectively implement those activities; monitor the impact of those activities; and other associated technical and managerial assistance. While in Washington, the Advisor will also work closely with interagency colleagues on strategy, policy, and resource allocation issues.
