The conceptual aim of USAID/Southern Africa’s (USAID/SA) new Supply Chain Activity is to support the Government of South Africa in further advancement of the public health supply chain system to ensure: 1) the continuous availability of essential medicine and related health commodities needed for the successful prevention, care and treatment of HIV, TB and other infectious diseases; 2) the successful rapid response to infectious disease outbreaks, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic; and 3) resilience and long-term sustainability. Through focused technical assistance, the Activity aims to promote health commodities security as part of a broader USAID health systems strengthening effort.
