This is a COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and Solicitation for Commercial Items, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. VA will conduct the procurement according to a combination of FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. (ii) The solicitation number is 36C24522Q1059 and is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). (iii) The provisions and clauses incorporated into this solicitation document are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2021-07, fiscal year 2022. Provisions and clauses incorporated by reference have the same force and effect as if they were given in full text. The VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) requires the purchase of cages, and racks to store the cages, that will house ferrets in support of its Research Animal Facility. There is currently no capacity to house ferrets in the animal facility, this will increase the research capacity of the organization. 2. Scope. The requested animal cages will be used in support of the awarded grant I01BX005678 A novel model to study the association between alcohol abuse during late adolescence with common conditions observed in combat Veterans . The Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Medina, investigates the effects of alcohol during development and its long lasting consequences. The experiments proposed were design to develop a new animal model (ferret) to investigate the consequences of alcohol exposure during late adolescence (age of most of service members) on different aspects of neurotransmission. 3. Specific Tasks. The vendor will provide delivery of cages and racks described in the scope within 60 days of contract award. The place of performance is: VA Maryland Health Care System Research Animal Facility 10 N. Green Street Basement Baltimore, MD 21201 The contractor will provide animal cages and racks. 4. Performance Monitoring Principle Investigator will ensure the delivered products will be suitable for use in the experiments of his award. 5. Other Pertinent Information or Special Considerations. a.
