The VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has a requirement to upgrade the existing Building Automation System (BAS). Several years ago, as part of a Non-Recurring Maintenance (NRM) construction and renovation program the VHA began modernization and standardization at VACHS in Puerto Rico. The Non-Recurring Maintenance Program was established pursuant to VHA Directive 1002.1. This modernization included installation of systems that permitted centralized monitoring and controlling of all aspects of the hospital environment and building management systems. The core of this modernization and standardization is the Trane Tracer Ensemble which centralizes the monitoring and management of the VA facilities systems. This acquisition is an extension of that VA NRM construction and renovation program.
