This data file is needed to estimate current health occupational supply at the state and national level and to track health workforce trends over time. The ADA Dentist Master File is unique as a comprehensive source of information on dentists that combines current information on locations and practices. As the major membership organization for dentists, the ADA is in a unique position to compile and assure the completeness of this data. Furthermore, as the sole proprietor of the data, ADA is the only source to obtain this data. HRSA is contractually obligated to provide these data for inclusion into the Area Health Resources Files.
