NIDCR seeks to purchase custom accessories for their existing Nikon X1 and Nikon TiE widefield microscopes. One of the main approaches used by NIDCR’s researchers is the imaging and analysis of fluorescently labeled proteins and reporters constructs in living tissues and organs. The ability of NIDCR’s researchers to successfully achieve their imaging goals depends on the precision and quality of the imaging systems that they have access to. To reliably and accurately visualize cellular events in real time, one needs to image the events faster than they are actually occurring, as to not miss critical aspects of the process. The ability to acquire meaningful images at high frame rate is directly correlated to the imaging setup and hardware used for the experiment.
